I recognize that any referral reflects on me, and I want you to receive the same care that I give you, so I have carefully developed relationships with particular specialists to help you. I feel very confident and comfortable in the care you will receive from these health care providers, and their endorsement is based on care, quality, expertise, and judgment.
There are 12 officially recognized dental specialties*; however, referrals to specialists may include recommendations to other appropriate allopathic and complementary health practitioners as warranted by your particular situation. FYI, DDS and DMD are equivalent degrees – no difference (it just depends on the school granting the degree).
The primary reason I refer you to a specialist is that it is in your best interest, because the specialist has greater familiarity and skill with a more difficult situation, or may provide services I do not (for example, general anesthesia).
Please note that there is nothing I receive in return for referring you to a specialist. The recommendation is made solely for your best interest. As always, please contact me with any questions you may have.
